Geraldine Miriam Skelton

November 13, 1925 — June 17, 2023

Burns

Geraldine “Gerry” Miriam Skelton, age 97, of Burns, TN, passed away June 17, 2023, at her residence.

Gerry was born November 13, 1925, in Wayne, Nebraska to the late Sigurd Walter and Lila (Hitchcock) Jensen.

She worked for Bell Telephone Co. right out of high school in Albany, Oregon. She met and was married to the love of her life, Stan for nearly 55 years. Stan was an Officer in the Army – Lt. Colonel and was in 3 wars. She lived in many places around the country and twice in Germany for a total of six years and once in Japan.  They had three children, Randy (Judy) Skelton of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mike (Mary) Skelton of Willard, MO, and Linda (Jimmy) Mattio of Burns, TN; eight grandchildren, Alisha, Treasure (Donald), Roger, Kristen, Pete (Jennifer), Lisa, Michelle (Jessica), Jeremiah (Christina), and Sandra; and twenty great-grandchildren, D.J., Robert, Mikayla, Kara, Emma, Ethan, Michelia, Lilly, Nolan, Sophia, Brianna, Jachin, Lily, Vanessa, Brooklynn, Josiah, Gauge, Spencer, Curtis, and Jace.

Gerry was a “born again child of God.” If you were not living for God she would ask, well…. “Why not?” She was very health conscience, making sure you were as well. Portion control was her motto! She would say, “Have you had your salad today?” She was a wonderful housewife, Mother, and Grandmother. She was a part of Aglow International for many years. She was also part of Golden Heirs senior ministry and the quilting club at DFA and made beautiful quilts with her sweet friends. She faithfully attended Compassion Church. For hobbies, she loved to sew and make clothing for her family, loved to use oil paints and paint beautiful scenic pictures, she loved to cook, playing cards with her family, and so much more. She loved dark chocolate and ice cream. She had a collection of fine China, silver items, and memorabilia from around the world. She said she had a perfect marriage. Her husband was perfect. They never once in 55 years had an argument or a fight; constantly showing love and affection to each other. Doesn’t mean they never disagreed, they chose to talk about things and not fight or argue over them. They loved each other so much, and Stan has been very missed the past 18 years. She has been anxious to see him again. Her wish has been granted!!  Grandma Gerry will be very much missed by all her grandchildren and everyone who knew her. She has been loved well by all. If you are going to heaven, then Gerry is not in your past but in your future. If you are going to heaven, like Gerry, then you will see her again. Get yourself ready…. Heaven is waiting for you!
