Fred Luther Stacey, 98, of White Bluff, TN, passed away on August 18, 2023. Born on January 17, 1925, in White Bluff, Fred was a devoted Christian, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.

Fred retired from the Dickson County Board of Education after a long career as a maintenance man. He made many friends in the school system. Fred had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening, often sharing his bountiful harvest with friends and neighbors. Together with his wife of 73 years, Joyce England Stacey, Fred provided love and support as foster parents.

A member of the Acorn Hill church of Christ, Fred was a devoted Bible teacher and song leader. He loved studying the Bible and continued to have a Bible study in his home with friends up until a few months before his death. He found joy in watching sports, particularly the Atlanta Braves. Fred played sports and coached several softball teams for children, grandchildren, and friends.

If you had the pleasure of knowing Fred, you would have experienced his quick wit, infectious smile, and felt the warmth of his love. Fred had a calm demeanor and never raised his voice. He could fix anything and always took the opportunity to teach others.

 

Fred proudly served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1945 during World War II and was a member of The Greatest Generation, believing in loving his country, working hard and being a good neighbor.

Fred is survived by his wife, Joyce England Stacey; daughter, Lisa (Tom) Dampf; grandchildren, Amanda (Jeff) Cole, Jessica (Thad) Sanders, Alex (Sara) Dampf, and Stacey (Tristan) Armstead; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Adrianna, Jasmine, Antonio, Demontay, Dontae, Javien, Travis, Jayce, Mosiah, Josie, Callie, Kam, Remi, and Noa; and great-great-grandchildren, Isaia and Elijah.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Denise Stacey and Cathy Yarbrough; granddaughter, Melissa Yarbrough; great-great-grandchild, Demontay Dixon Jr.; and siblings, Archie Stacey, Zola Hall, Robbie Goodman, Lorelle Linzy, Verdie Stacey, Wade Stacey, Amye Stacey, and his parents, Paul and Eara Stacey.

Visitation and funeral services will be at the White Bluff Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will begin on Thursday, August 24, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and will resume on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023, with Bro. Joel Plunkett and Bro. Mitch Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in Taylor Town Cemetery in White Bluff, TN.

Fred Luther Stacey will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
