Mary Etta Nelson

Mary Etta Nelson, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, June 27th at her residence in Burns, TN.  She was born in Shelbyville, TN on April 1st, 1922 to the late George and Fleecie Singleton Troupe.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Gray; sons Robert Lee, Claude Vernon, and Melvin Gene Gray; grandson Jerry Gray; brother Jock Troupe; and sisters Ruby Hall and Estelle Moss.  She is survived by two sons, George Gray (Rebecca) of Estill Springs, TN, and Pete Gray (Cheryl) of Alachua, FL; daughter Mary Collins of Burns, TN; three grandchildren, Leanne Reece, Michelle Johnson, and Darrell Collins; five great-grandchildren, Justin Johnson, Ivory Saulsbury, Lucas Johnson, Cody and Aaron Collins; and three great-great-grandchildren, Penny, Eliza, and Tatum Johnson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 30th at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville.  Visitation with the family will begin on Thursday, June 29th from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
