Dorothy Nell Bruce

Dorothy Nell Lewis Tipton Bruce, two weeks older than Mickey Mouse.  Born September 15, 1928, she passed into the next realm March 26, 2017.  She was a mother of two families.  Her children: Rosemary Hackney, Cherrylee Buchanan, Charles Timothy Tipton, Jeffrey Lane Tipton, Susan Melinda Jaggers, and Heather Jean Bruce; sister Rita Carl Finley; grandchildren Melantha Buchanan Graybill, Tyrel Donald Buchanan, Anna Marie Tipton, Jake Anthony Bruce, Gilbert Ray Buchanan, Sara Joyce Cordle, and Josaph Tedd Bruce; great grandchildren Avery Faye Buchanan, Ashlyn Shae Buchanan, Madelyn Hope Buchanan, Anslee Rhea Buchanan, and Owen Tyler Buchanan. She was preceded in death by parents Addison Roosevelt Lewis and Mary Walker Lewis, husbands Charles Gilbert Tipton and Harlan Gene Bruce, daughter Dorothy Anne Tipton, brother Curtis Gail Lewis, and sister Julia Ann Gardner.  A long-time teacher and librarian for the Dickson County School System, as well as a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dickson. She was a staunch supporter of books for children and for them to understand the importance of books.  She loved reading.   Visitation will be Wednesday, March 29th, from 6-8 pm and Thursday, March 30th, from 1 pm until time of service.  Funeral service will be Thursday, March 30th, from the Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home beginning at 3:30 pm with Bro. Ron Hackney and Bro. Andrew Allen officiating.  Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, memorials of books are requested in her honor.
