ANGLIN LCDR H. L. “Red” Anglin, USN (Ret.), age 89, of Freeman, Va. passed away on January 5, 2017.  Commander Anglin enlisted in the Navy at age 16 in 1944, and served as an anti-aircraft gunner on the USS Kadashan Bay until the end of the war.  He was commissioned as a Lieutenant JG in 1960, with the highlight of his career being named as the commanding officer of the UDT/SEAL training school at the Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base from 1970 to 1972.  He retired as the explosive ordinance disposal/weapons officer at the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station in January of 1975.  He was a true warrior who served his country in ways that most people will never know.  He was predeceased by his father and mother, George and Ruby Anglin; his first wife and the mother of his three children, Gretchen Kilner Anglin; his brother Chip; his sisters Ida, Patsy, Trudy and his beloved twin Esther.  He is survived by his wife, Katherine Griffin Anglin; three children, David C. Anglin and wife Roz of Virginia Beach, Margaret S. Anglin and husband Jim Akers of Norfolk and Candice A. LeDoyen and husband Jim of Suffolk; his step son, Griffin S. Alexanders; two grandchildren, Yeoman First Class James Dean LeDoyen, USN and Claire S. LeDoyen; three step grandchildren, Brianna Alexanders, Raigen Alexanders and Lucy Alexanders; and two sisters, Sarah Sweeney of Dickson, TN and Una Langer of Pittsburg, PA.  The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 10th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home, Lawrenceville, Va.  The family will then receive friends at Dickson Funeral Home in Fairview, TN on Saturday, January 14th from 10:30 to 12:00 noon followed with burial at New Hope Bixler Cemetery in Fairview, TN.   Our entire family would like to extend special thanks to all of the staff at the Signature Health Care Harbour Pointe Home in Norfolk for taking such great care of Red in his final days.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.  Online condolences may be made at www.wmsfhva.com or www.dicksonfuneralhome.com
